The King of Sweden dined in Williamstown on Friday, as part of his visit to Melbourne.

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden dined with 31 Scouts and their families at Seaworks, presenting the young people with Scoutings’s top honour.

The boys and girls, aged 13 and 14, received the Australian Scout Medallion.

King Carl Gustaf, who was a Cub and Scout in his native land, is honorary chairman of the World Scout Foundation fundraising body.

He had planned to sail to Williamstown aboard the tallship Enterprize but this was ruled out due to inclement weather.

On Friday, he launched Victoria’s latest Scout hall for the Caroline Springs Scout Group.

His planned visit to the new hall in Burnside Heights was disrupted by storms, so the King’s party conducted a dedication ceremony at Sydenham’s Catholic Regional College.
