Three local innovators will spark up in Footscray tonight for a forum dubbed Innovation in Action.
As part of a joint Maribyrnong council and Victoria University-sponsored ‘Game Changers’ conversation series, the trio will form a panel to discuss how bold ideas can be translated into action.
Social Surplus director Darren Sharp will discuss the value of the sharing economy to individuals and communities.
Brad Hammond, co-founder of EthnoTekh, will explore the intersection between technology and art, and the impact of ground- breaking technology.
Mia Klitsas, co-founder of sanitary products company Moxie, will talk about the journey behind her successful business and international ‘Pads for Pads’ initiative.
The session will be run by Katrina Sedgwick, chief executive of the Australian Centre for the Moving Image.
Maribyrnong mayor Cameron McDonald said the Game Changer conversation series was a platform for talking about ideas that had shaped the world.
“Innovation in Action will be a lively discussion about how original thinking is developed into outcomes with impact,” he said.
“This thought-provoking event is another product of the Footscray University Town partnership between council and university, which aims to revitalise Footscray and deliver long-term benefits for our community.”
