Appreciating the fab four’s beat

Beatles fans are being invited to come together for a special presentation in Altona on Monday.

John Dawson will host a two-hour session looking at The Beatles songs from the first to last – Love Me do to the aptly named, The End.

The free event is called The BEAT, which stands for Beatle Enthusiasts Appreciation Thingie.

Mr Dawson said the presentation was a chance for people who appreciated the fab four to listen and discuss Beatles recordings.

“It’s two hours where we look at eight years of their recording, their 217 songs and their 10 hours of music that came out in that time,” he said.

“I’m not a Beatles expert, I’m a Beatles fan.

“There’s people out there who if you ask, ‘What colour socks were they wearing on the 16th of May, 1967,’ and they can tell you.

“I am not that obsessed but I’m probably as big a Beatles fan as you’ll find, I’d suspect.”

Mr Dawson plans to do future presentations covering topics such as songs influenced by the women in their lives and the split up.

The BEAT will be held from 1.30pm-3.30pm on Monday, May 16, at the Louis Joel Arts and Community Centre, 5 Sargood Street, Altona.
