Altona Magic maintains its buffer at top

Altona Magic has left points on the table for the first time this season in Football Federation Victoria’s state league 1.

The Magic went into the clash with second-placed Sydenham Park with a maximum 18 points from six games.

They played out an entertaining 3-3 draw, ensuring Magic kept its six-point lead.

Magic came from a goal down at half-time to secure a point with a double by Adamson Ajayi and a goal to Jon McShane.

In the derby, Altona East Phoenix and Yarraville Glory drew 2-2 at Paisley Park.

The Phoenix is just two points clear of the relegation zone, while the Glory is comfortably in mid-table.

Melbourne City tumbled to sixth with a 3-1 home defeat to Geelong Rangers.
