Free films, holiday fun and a maker’s market – Community Calendar, June 15 2016

The Heartlands 2016 Arts Project: Stories from Refugee Youth features young people from refugee backgrounds telling their stories about their unique settlement journeys through film, June 17-30, at Footscray Community Arts Centre.

Makers market

The Maribyrnong Makers Market will be held on Saturday, June 18, from 9.30am-3.30pm at the Seddon Uniting Church, Gamon Street, Seddon. Entry free.

Holiday fun

Yarraville Community Centre’s Winter school holiday program will run three days 9am-5pm from June 28-30, with four different activities each day including cooking and art workshops.

Stories star

Off The Map, Into The Stars is a free celebration of young poets and storytellers in Melbourne’s west. From 7.15pm on Wednesday, June 15, in the cosy setting of Back Alley Sally’s, 4 Yewers Street, Footscray, artists will read original works relating to the theme of Footscray’s varied and colourful artistic culture.

 

Spoken word

The West Writers Group teams up with Emerging Writers’ Festival for a free performance of spoken word and conversation, 8.30-9.30pm on Wednesday, June 15, at FCAC Performance Space. Bookings required.
