Barkly Road in Footscray remains closed in both directions following a fire at M Bar early on Wednesday morning.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but it took 50 firefighters 30 minutes to get the blaze under control at the two-storey shop.
It has caused major traffic havoc in the area. Barkly Street is closed from Geelong Road to Droop Street.
Metropolitan Fire Brigade crews were called just before 4am as the first floor of the shop was engulfed. The emergency crews are still on the scene.
The Metropolitan Fire Brigade has issues a community warning alerting residents to smoke in the area.
