Point Cook banish MacPherson Park bogey

Point Cook has gone some way to banishing its bogey of years past at Melton’s MacPherson Park on Saturday.

The Jets staged a comprehensive 3-0 win in a dominant performance over Melton Phoenix.

Zac Osborne, Ellis Davies and Morgan Filler all scored goals for the Jets in the sweet victory.

The clean sheet was preserved by goalkeeper Dan Dubovsky, who saved a penalty.

Point Cook now sits second on the ladder heading into the Easter break, two points behind the undefeated Bell Park.

Truganina picked up its first point of the season in a pulsating 3-3 draw with Balmoral at Arndell Park Reserve on Saturday night.

Goal-scorers for the Hornets were Senau Oforokumah, Reece Mamic and Zachary Busuttil.

The Hornets will host the only game in the division over the Easter long weekend when Newmarket Phoenix visits Federation Boulevard on Saturday night.

Kick-off is at 7pm.

In NPL2 west, Werribee City is crying out for goals after yet another narrow loss.

The Bees went down 1-0 to ladder-leader Northcote City on the road at John Cain Memorial Park.

It was an honourable loss, but not the points they need to begin their charge up the ladder.

It was the fourth time this season that the Bees have lost by a one-goal margin, which is frustrating for the fans.

Werribee City will also be in action over Easter.

It host’s Melbourne Victory in a crucial game on Saturday at Galvin Park from 3pm.
