Tarneit’s Kiran Aslam is a professional henna tattooing artist. The practice, which dates back many centuries, was popular among women who attended wedding festivals and religious celebrations in ancient Egypt, India and Africa. Ms Aslam, originally from Pakistan, does traditional Indian, Arabic and Mughal henna tattooing, as well as modern designs. She started out by teaching herself how to create henna designs, practising on family, friends and even her own hands. ■ Full story: Page 21
