A 43-year-old Tarneit drink driver who was caught driving on the wrong side of the road in West Footscray overnight has had his licence suspended for 12 months.
At around 10.45pm some members of the public called triple 000 to alert police that a car had allegedly mounted a footpath along Warleigh Road, West Footscray, and was driving on the wrong side of the road.
Police later received reports of the driver being asleep behind the wheel of the car at the Barkly Street intersection.
The man was taken to the Footscray police station, where he recorded a blood-alcohol reading of .201, more than four times the legal limit.
The driver’s car was impounded and he was charged on summons for drink-driving and other traffic offences to appear in the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court at later date.
