Wyndham youths arrested over alleged robbery and assault

Five Wyndham youths were among 10 arrested overnight following an alleged robbery and assault in Southbank.

It is believed a 21-year-old Epping man was walking along Southbank Promenade with a friend about 3.45am yesterday when he was assaulted by a group.

The man’s mobile phone, wallet, bank cards and cash were allegedly stolen during the incident.

The victim’s friend, a 24-year-old Point Cook man, was not injured.

Melbourne West police arrested the 10 youths shortly after the incident in relation to the robbery and several other outstanding incidents.

Among those arrested were a 16-year-old Werribee girl, a 13-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy, a 13-year-old Hoppers Crossing girl, a 14-year-old Point Cook boy, an 11-year-old Werribee boy, a 14-year-old Laverton boy, a 15-year-old Hampton girl, a 13-year-old South Yarra girl, a 15-year-old Ferntree Gully girl and a 15-year-old Huntingdale girl.

The Werribee boy, Hoppers Crossing boy,  Huntingdale girl,  South Yarra girl and Ferntree Gully girl were charged and bailed to face a children’s court at a later date.

The Werribee girl will face a children’s court for a remand application.

The four remaining youths have been released pending further inquiries.
