Quick kill for Williamstown

A rampaging Williamstown led at every change en route to a 60-point win over Collingwood in the Victorian Football League at Victoria Park on Saturday.

The Seagulls had a six-goal-to-one second term blitz and never looked back.

Onballer Michael Gibbons was at his brilliant best for Williamstown with 40 disposals, eight marks, four tackles and four goals in one of the most complete individual performances of the season.

Tristan Davies, a late inclusion for the injured Peter Faulks, Sam Dunell and Ben Cavarra kicked three goals apiece, while Lachlan Schultz, Ayce Cordy and Adam Marcon each kicked two.

Williamstown is well and truly in the top-four mix, sitting second on the ladder.

The Seagulls will clash with traditional rivals Port Melbourne in a second-versus-third showdown at North Port Oval on Saturday at 2pm.

Another side in the top four conversation is Footscray, following a comfortable 62-point win over Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs broke off the leash with a 10-goal-to-three second half, sparked by five goals from Anthony Bruhn.

Clay Smith, the leading possession winner on the ground with 32 to go with a game-high 10 tackles, Josh Prudden, Will Hayes and Lukas Webb figured prominently for the Bulldogs.

In the TAC Cup, Western Jets remain planted to the foot of the ladder after heavy 52-point loss to Geelong Falcons at Central Reserve in Colac.

Backing up from his All Australian form for Vic Metro at the national championships, onballer Lachlan Fogarty was named best for the Jets with 27 disposals and five tackles, while Jack Noonan kicked a team-high three goals.

In the VFL Women’s, VU Western Spurs were overwhelmed by Darebin Falcons in a 49-point loss at Henry Turner Reserve.

Aliesha Newman was the Spurs only multiple goalkicker on a disappointing day with two.
