The family of a Seabrook great-grandmother is crowdfunding to bring her home from hospital.

Maida “Peggy” Perry, 86, remains at Footscray Hospital after her right foot required an amputation squamous cell carcinoma.

Her great-granddaughter, Mellisa Price has started a GoFundMe campaign titled “Help Peggy go home” to raise $10,000 for house modifications to allow her to return home.

“Her two wishes were that she wanted to be able to walk and she wanted to be able to return home because she’s adamant that she doesn’t want to be in a nursing home,” Ms Price said.

“In order for us to actually be allowed to take her home we have to have the house in a condition for someone that’s lost a limb.”

This includes having equipment such as hoists, bathroom modifications and non-carpet floor surfaces.

“This all needs to be done while she is in rehab and we just don’t have the funds to do so,” Ms Price said.

“She’s only on a pension and we aren’t a wealthy family, so we are asking the community to help us get her home.”

The campaign is trending with $2240 raised by 42 people in nine days and 640 Facebook shares.

Peggy’s daughter Diane Price posted: “I’m not gonna let you go into a home mum, I made dad a promise years ago that once he left this earth that I would take care of you and that’s what I’m going to do. I love you.”
