Have you ever thought of pulling on the skates and joining in the thrills and spills of roller derby?
WestSide Derby Dollz is about to host a come-and-try for anyone curious about the sport. The free session, run by the west’s only Roller Derby League for men and women over 16, is open to anyone regardless of experience.
Participants will have the chance to stay behind after the session to ask questions, meet WestSide skaters and watch current members smash their way through a series of practice games.
New skaters who join the WestSide Derby Dollz ‘Freshmeat’ program receive a crash course in foundation skills, such as learning how to skate, how to stop and how to fall.
‘Come and Try with the WestSide Derby Dollz’ will be at RecWest Footscray, corner of Essex and Market streets, West Footscray, from 9am Sunday, July 12.
If you can’t make the session but are keen to give it a go, email recruitment@westsidederbydollz.org.au
Younger skaters can also join in the fun, thanks to a junior derby for children from six to 16.
Term 3 begins on July 16.
Email juniors@westsidederbydollz.org.au to join a free introductory session.
