Three local children won gold at this month’s Australian Taekwondo National Championships in Bendigo, where they were among nearly 850 athletes.
Yarraville’s Fred Pace, 15, Newport’s Makayla Giovanniello, 13, and Yarraville’s Maddie Camillo, 10, each won their respective divisions to claim national titles.
For Makayla, it was her third consecutive national win.
The success of Fred and Makayla comes on the back of victories in Fiji where they claimed gold at the 2016 Oceania Taekwondo Championships.
The three junior athletes, who train at Mozhdeh Martial Arts, are looking to compete for more local and international titles, with their ultimate aim being to compete at Olympic level.
