Motorcyclist seriously hurt in Yarraville crash

A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a collision between a motorbike and a van in Yarraville on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Somerville Road and Williamstown Road just after 4.45am.

The rider, a 58-year-old Laverton North man, suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the van was uninjured and stopped to assist at the scene.

The incident occurred just near the location a motorcyclist died after crashing into a parked truck in August.

It continues a horror run for motorcyclists on inner-west roads this year.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
