Police helped save three people and a dog from a house fire in Werribee on Tuesday.
Detectives from the Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit were on patrol when they saw flames coming from the window of a house in Fisher Court, just after midnight.
Police helped two men, a woman and their dog to leave the property.
A 49-year-old man sustained non-life threatening burns to his face and was taken to hospital, along with a 48-year-old man, for observation.
A 46-year-old woman and the dog were not injured.
The fire caused extensive damage to the property and is being treated as non-suspicious. Police said fire investigators would attend the scene on Wednesday to determine the cause.
In a separate incident, MFB crews were called to a fire at a unit in Woods Street, Laverton just after 1am on July 6.
