Macedon Ranges Futsal kicks on

Macedon Ranges Futsal is home to some of the most talented young players in the state and the association is looking for more people to join.

Started 20 year ago, the association has grown to more than 450 players across more than 50 teams ranging from under-8s through to open age.

MR Futsal president Brett Sinnett said it was an exciting time for the association.

“In recent years we have seen a boom in our representative program thanks to the pathways offered by the Australian Futsal Association and the development our players have experienced through our academy.

“We have sent teams in all age groups to regional and state league competitions, winning two titles and multiple runner-up trophies.

“We’ve had over 30 players represent Vic Country at national tournaments in Sydney and Brisbane, and more than 10 players represent Australia at various international tournaments around the world.

“We expect this number to continue to rise in the future.”

Macedon Ranges Futsal has established it’s own academy training program for junior players to develop their skills which has been implemented by Jake Francis, who is widely regarded as one of the most talented futsal players and coaches in Victoria.

The club also has a dedicated referee development program and is hoping, like their players, they will get the opportunity at higher levels.

The summer season will start at the beginning of term four. Registrations are now open. Sinnett said they were happy to accept teams or individuals and were keen to increase the numbers of female players.
