These young archery masters know how to hit the mark.
Wyndham Vale’s Aimee Scattergood, Lachlan DiBattista, of Truganina, and Altona’s Amelie Lu have each amassed an impressive collection of records and awards for their shooting skills.
Irene Norman, who runs Arrows Plus in Point Cook, said the trio were among 12 members of the club’s development squad.
“All of these guys came through our kids’ club program originally,” she said.
Aimee first gave archery a go at a friend’s birthday party and discovered a natural talent for the sport.
The 12-year-old, who shoots with a bare bow, has three gold and one silver national medal to her name, as well as a number of state accolades.
“My goal is to get a score of 400 on a Tuesday shoot,” she said.
For Lachlan, who specialises in outdoor archery and competes with a compound bow, he has his eye set on competing in the Olympics or World Championships one day.
“I like going to a bunch of different clubs and shooting at different clubs, and I like the sport, it’s very fun for me,” the 13-year-old said.
Recurve archer Amelie, 10, has been the state indoor champion for her division three years in a row and said she loves the sense of accomplishment when she performs well.
“This year I am probably the most proud of the bronze I got nationally for the indoor championships.”
Amelie was on television variety show Little Big Shots last year and hopes to contest the 2024 Olympic Games.
