Bayside Thunder’s women’s side won the Asia Pacific Tennis League Championships last Tuesday.
The star-studded team beat Flagstaff Freighters, 4-8-41 to 2-6-33.
Olivia Rogowska got Thunder off to a perfect start with a straight sets win over Katarzyna Pieter 4-2, 4-0.
In the second rubber, Arina Rodionova had to work hard for her win over Jessica Moore, losing the first set before winning 1-4, 4-2, 4-2.
Viktorjia Rajicic made the margin 2-1 when she defeated the Thunder’s Storm Sanders, 4-2, 4-2, in the third rubber of the final.
When Varatchaya Wongteanchai won her singles match, 4-1, 4-1, against Nicole Collie, the Thunder led three matches to one and had one hand on the trophy, .
Thunder clinched the title in the first of the doubles matches when Wongteanchai and Sanders came from behind to win 10-4 in the tie- break, The match result was 2-4, 4-1 (10-4).
In the
tournament’s final rubber, Rogowska and Rodinova lost to Moore and Pieter.
