Man charged over Footscray Station sexual assault

Transit Safety Division detectives have charged a Footscray man following the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl at Footscray station.

The 34-year-old man handed himself in at a police station in relation to the incident, which allegedly occurred about 2.30pm on February 21, after police circulated images of a man they wished to speak with in relation to the matter.

Leading Senior Constable Natalie Dean said the man has been charged with sexual assault of a child under the age of 16 and will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.
