Cia Paulista kicks off anniversary celebrations

The Cia Paulista Australia Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu centres celebrated their 10th anniversary last weekend.

Cia Paulista Australia has 11 centres across the nation, including seven in Victoria and four more in Adelaide, Darwin, Gympie and the Gold Coast.

The special 10-year celebrations took place in their Maribyrnong centre on Saturday.

Nearly 300 people converged on the west for a massive seminar, which was led by internationally acclaimed local coach Carlos Vieira.

Vieira is also coach of UFC fighter Jake Matthews, who attended on the day.

An incredible 15 black belt fighters were under the one roof celebrating a milestone for the club.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a growing sport.

In two-and-a-half years, the Maribyrnong arm of Cia Paulista Australia has grown to more than 150 students.

The students are men, women, teenagers and kids.

As well as the competitive side of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the coaches also preach the health benefits of the martial art.

It is good for general health and fitness, self defence, builds self esteem and strengthens mental health.
