Yooralla Catering offers plenty of food for thought

A Footscray-based social enterprise is giving anyone who is seeking catering plenty of food for thought.

Yooralla Catering has been providing catering for government, corporate and private events of all sizes since 2014.

The organisation provides employment and training for people with a disability.

Covering every aspect of the food preparation and delivery process, staff carry out all the functions of an ordinary catering company.

Manager Joanne O’Connell said the enterprise provides employment for five people, but this may increase following last week’s launch of a new online ordering system to streamline their service.

“Danielle, Daniela, Bryce and Kirsty have worked in our kitchen preparing platters and lunches for five years,” she said.

“Ali is the latest addition to our catering team, and assists in deliveries throughout Melbourne. We are looking ahead at the opportunity for growth and taking on a few more people as well.”

Ms O’Connell said the staff all work well together and love being part of the team.

“When clients order from Yooralla Catering, they know they are making a difference to the community as well as receiving great food,” she said.

The new Yooralla Catering website is at yooralla.foodstorm.com
