Gorgeously new: 8 Rosseau Street, Williamstown, 3016

Townhouse life is looking mighty fine with this one, all sparkly new and treated to trappings that not only evoke luxury but also up the liveability factor.

The sound-proofing throughout, plus the double-glazed windows, high ceilings and hardwood floorboards, probably belong in both categories.

The fat stone benches, touch-pad access, and the Ilve tag on appliances are flat-out luxe – as is a rarity for new inner-ring properties: the large drive-through garage and driveway parking for another.

The three grey-carpeted and fitted bedrooms and main bathroom are up top, ranging around a floorboarded landing – big enough to set up a study workstation. Each bedroom has a split-system, while the largest also has an en suite.

The swish shared bathroom is fully tiled in a veined-marble look, and has an inviting tub, a shower, and dual basins atop a seamless floating vanity.

With a laundry and powder room down the back, the ground floor’s living hub has those floorboards providing a warm juxtaposition with the crisp-white wall paint and black window frames.

The street-facing sitting area has fab corner picture windows, and there’s another one in the dining area that also has bifolds to the back garden.

The kitchen, at the centre, is sleek and white, with marble-like veins in the stone benches having a lovely softening effect. The island bench can seat up to four, the streamlined cabinetry includes pot drawers and, as mentioned, Ilve bling is on display.

The backyard has a good patch of synthetic turf edged with paving, as well as timber-edged gardens, with plants about to take off. It has a northern and westerly aspects so expect loads of sunshine.

The Strand waterfront and Nelson Place eateries are five minutes away by foot, the station eight.
