Altona Meadows man wins $200,000

A young Altona Meadows man is $200,000 richer after winning the guaranteed first prize of $200,000 in last Thursday’s Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.

He plans to use most of his win to pay off some of his mortgage and also splurge on a new car and a trip to Prague.

The winner, who wants to remain anonymous, told a Tatts official how he found out he’d won.

“We were at home with a few friends and we were in the kitchen cooking dinner when my friend saw the ticket sitting on my fridge door,” he said.

“He joked around and said, ‘I’ll check this for you’, and when he scanned it he screwed up his face as he looked at it and when he looked over at me his face was white.

“He said, ‘You’ve won’. I didn’t believe him for about 15 minutes until I finally checked it myself.

“The funniest part was I had walked past the Tatts outlet that sold me the ticket just that day and saw that they had sold a winning ticket. I thought to myself at the time, what a lucky guy.”

The winning entry of one random number was bought at Get The News in Williamstown.

The winner said his ticket had been under a fridge magnet from Prague.

“We have never been, so we think it is a sign that we should go there as part of a big Europe trip,” he said
