Wear your art on your sleeve

Altona’s Louis Joel Arts and Community Centre is hosting a fashion show and exhibition of wearable art titled, It’s Art: Wear It! The fashion parade, featuring models from Mambourin Enterprises in Altona and David House in Yarraville, is on November 7 at 7pm. Tickets are $15 and on sale now at the Louis Joel centre, 5 Sargood Street, Altona. The exhibition runs until November 11.

School reunion

Williamstown High School is holding its class of 1974 reunion on November 8 at the Royal Yacht Club in Nelson Place, Williamstown. It starts at 6.30pm.

Handel’s Messiah

Handel’s Messiah will be performed at Williamstown Town Hall on November 8 at 6.30pm. Conducted by Douglas Heywood, the performance features the Hallelujah chorus, 70-voice Camberwell Chorale and soloists supported by the Camerata Orchestra. Proceeds go to a local charity. Tickets are $28/$25 concession, with children 12 and under admitted free.

Young parents

Are you’re a parent from 16-25 and want to meet other young parents in your area, take your children on outings and do fun kids’ activities? Free groups meet in Laverton on Mondays from 10-11.30am, Altona Meadows on Mondays from 1-2.30pm and Sunshine on Fridays from 12.30-2.30pm.

Senior drivers

A free senior drivers expo hosted by Westgate Community Road Safety Council and Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melton and Wyndham councils to keep older people on the road will be held at Hobsons Bay Civic Centre at 115 Civic Parade, Altona from 9.45am-2.30pm on November 22. Places are limited.

Twilight fete

Newport Lakes Primary School will hold a twilight fete from 3.30-8.30pm on Saturday, November 14. There will be live entertainment, rides, stalls and food. People are invited to attend in the afternoon and stay for dinner.

The school is at 113 Elizabeth Street, Newport.

Learn T-shirt printing

Are you 14-20, living in the west and wanting to learn T-shirt design and screen-printing? Free sessions will be held at Woods Street Arts Space, 44 Woods Street, Laverton, from 2-5pm every second Saturday until November 29. Free food and drinks provided.
