The Matrimonials seek couple for free Footscray wedding

Fancy getting hitched for free?

Maverick wedding-industry collective The Matrimonials is giving away a $35,000 ‘love party’ with all the trimmings to one lucky couple.

Celebrant Nat Sproal said the collective is on the lookout for a “couple of cool cats” keen to tie the knot in Footscray in January.

“We’re looking for a couple up for an edgy vibe, who are open to doing something a little out of the box – this won’t be a traditional wedding,” she said.

Ms Sproal said the wedding professionals coming together for the day realise not everyone can afford the wedding of their dreams.

The wedding will take place at warehouse space The Line in Footscray from sunset on January 9.

The package for the betrothed and 26 guests will include everything from the venue, celebrant, bridal outfits, photography and video to styling, décor, flowers, food, a cake and even rings.

“It’s going to be massive and beyond the likes of anything Melbourne has seen before,” Ms Sproal said.

Photography will be provided by Oli Sansom of Briars Atlas and videography by Carlo of Lunar Red Films.

The space will be decorated by Stevie at Good Day Club and a hanging roof garden installed by Bangin’ Hangins.

Babiana Botanic will provide the flowers and DJ Hot Wheels will be supply the soundtrack.

Danee of Killer Queen Beauty and Creative will take care of hair and makeup, Fat and Skinny Catering will put on cocktail food and a sit-down summer supper and Torte by Mirjana will supply a wedding cake with a twist.

Midnight Kiss Jewellery will provide the rings and the bride will be decked out in rock and roll wedding attire by Ginger and Gold Bridal.

All couples are invited to enter, regardless of gender or sexual preference.

Entries close at midnight this Saturday, November 30, with winners announced on Monday.
