It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Hobsons Bay.
The Hobsons Bay Council Shops on Show competition was a huge success last year and it’s proving to be bigger and better this year.
Running until 5pm Sunday, December 15, the initiative encourages people to shop locally and support businesses in their community this festive season – and win great prizes in doing so.
To take part in the competition, shops register with the council and provide a photo of their decorated Christmas window. Shoppers who visit participating businesses can vote for their favourite display by ‘liking’ it on the Hobsons Bay Council’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
The three shops with the most ‘likes’ on their Christmas window photos will win.
Shoppers who vote online for their favourite Christmas window will also go into the draw for prizes valued at more than $7000.
Prizes for winning businesses include Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay Star Weekly print advertising space, Quest Williamstown North accommodation package and a meal voucher for four people at Sebastian Beach Bar & Grill. There’s also a runner-up prize of dinner and show tickets at Titanic Theatre Restaurant.
Voters can win prizes from Sharon O’Connor Photography, Clip ’n Climb, Lantern Ghost Tours, Maskey Massage, Melbourne Sunseekers Stand Up Paddle, Style with Soul, Blacksheep Cafe, Borgs Cakes, Enterprise Tall Ship, Gourmet Pawprints and Little Rosebery Cafe.
Winners will be announced on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 in the Maribyrnong & Hobsons Bay Star Weekly and on Hobsons Bay Council’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
