Footscray on top against Greenvale Kangaroos

A Daniel Sartori century has given Footscray the upper hand against Greenvale Kangaroos in their round nine Victorian Premier Cricket match.

The Kangaroos started well after sending the Bulldogs in on Saturday, taking two early wickets including that of Victorian player Travis Dean.

Sartori and Bulldogs veteran Dean Russ came together and put on 126 for the third wicket partnership to steady Footscray.

The runs kept flowing for the Bulldogs despite Russ going out for 76.

Sartori continued on and to get his century, his first for the Bulldogs.

He was out shortly later for 100, out lbw to Mitchell Edwards.

Bulldogs skipper Dylan Kight made some late runs to finish 54 not out as he helped push the Bulldogs total to 8-304.

Sean McNicholl toiled hard and took through wickets for the Kangaroos, as did spinner Mitchell Edwards.

It will be a test for the Kangaroos, who are yet to make 300 this season.

Their run chase didn’t get off to the best start with Sri Lankan international Kaushal Silva out for four late on Saturday.
