Williamstown animal lover Vickie Davy has been recognised as one of Australia’s most inspiring entrepreneurs for co-founding Australia’s most-visited charity website and the nation’s largest directory of rescue pets.
She was named a winner in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for her PetRescue website.
Founded 10 years ago, PetRescue is expected to rescue and re-home its 250,000th animal within the next fortnight.
“It’s an immense privilege to be recognised in these awards for our work in helping hundreds of thousands of homeless pets find fantastic forever homes,” Ms Davy said.
“Helping to found PetRescue is the most worthwhile and rewarding thing I’ve done in my life and it’s incredible to be recognised in this way.
“The thing that kept me motivated … was the thought that if we could save just one life, then it would all be worth it. And then we launched and straight away we could see pets being adopted. It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey.”
