Altona Meadows sexual assaults

Police are hunting a man on a bike who sexually assaulted three women within half an hour in Altona Meadows on Thursday.

Investigators say a man on a black electric bike rode past three separate women as they walked along the Skeleton Creek Trail between 3.30pm and 4pm.

He sexually assaulted each woman before riding away.

Police say the man did not say anything but looked back at each of the three.

Hobson’s Bay Inspector Tim O’Connor said each woman, in the three separate incidents, had heard a motorised bike come from behind.

“They’ve moved off the path to make room for the bike,” he said.

“As the rider’s gone past, he’s reached out and smacked them on the backside.

“He’s then gone a bit further on. He’s then looked back to gauge their reaction and then he’s taken off.”

Inspector O’Connor said police were appealing for information or for any other victims to come forward.

“It’s an isolated area but it’s also very populated with people out walking,” he said.

“There may be other victims out there of this behaviour that haven’t reported the matter as yet, so we want them to come forward.

“There may be other interactions that people have had with this person yesterday … there could be a myriad of reasons why.

“There could also be people who have footage or images of this person that was on the bike around that time yesterday in the park.

“We’re appealing for witnesses to come forward so we can progress the investigation.”

He is described as aged in his early 20s with a tall, slim build.

He was wearing a face mask, dark pants, jumper and black motorbike helmet.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
