Is it the Westgate Punt ferry service between Spotswood and Port Melbourne or Hobsons Bay’s biggest tourism drawcard, Scienceworks?
Could it be having a coffee at the boutique cafes or the South Kingsville Community Centre?
Hobsons Bay council is asking people what they love most about Spotswood and South Kingsville in a bid to make these places better.
People are also being asked about the main challenges and priorities for change.
The council is seeking views from residents, businesses and visitors as part of its Better Places project, which uses feedback to guide future investment and projects.
A similar survey was conducted in Laverton, with more than 1500 ideas submitted, including suggestions for a splash park, art trails and fast-tracked tree planting.
As reported by Star Weekly, community group Better West has collected more than 1000 signatures on a Change petition calling for part of Hall Street at Spotswood to be turned into a park and plaza.
“The people of Spotswood, in Hobsons Bay, are being provided with a link to the Federation bike trail and access to a new park at Stony Creek, through the West Gate Tunnel Project,“ the petition states.
“This gives Hobsons Bay City Council a once in a lifetime opportunity to redesign Hall Street to create a community park, a cool, green bike and pedestrian link to Stony Creek, and build Hudsons Road as a safe bike destination for Hobsons Bay and our neighbours in Yarraville.“
The council is seeking feedback on Spotswood and South Kingsville until December 13.
Local residents and businesses have been mailed a ‘have your say’ sheet with a reply-paid envelope.
