Altona City Rotary Club is holding its 19th charity golf day at Kooringal Golf Club, raising money for kids with life-threatening conditions and other worthy causes.
Children’s charity Very Special Kids has been the event’s major beneficiary for the past 11 years, and will receive funds from the day to help provide free support to about 850 families across Victoria.
Golf committee chairman Charlie Montebello said money raised from the day also assisted other community projects.
“In the last 11 years, we have donated $109,000 to Very Special Kids through the charity golf day,” he said.
“Over the 11 years, we have raised 160-odd thousand [dollars], of which the other 50-odd thousand [dollars] we have spent in the community and on other Rotary projects.
“On behalf of the Altona City Rotary Club, I’d like to thank some of the local businesses for their donations, considering with COVID and everything.
“A lot of the local businesses have been very good in giving us some donations for prizes but we’re still looking for more prizes.”
The event will be ambrose format with 25 teams of four registered.
The charity golf day is on Friday, February 26.
