Melbourne’s 25-kilometre travel limit will be removed and people will be able to welcome two adult visitors to their house each day from Friday.

Acting Premier James Merlino has announced that restrictions will be further eased from 11.59pm tomorrow.

Under the eased restrictions, metro Melbourne residents will be allowed to travel beyond the 25 kilometre radius, and the border between metro and regional Victoria will be gone.

Mr Merlino said this will mean “the state will come back together”.

In metro Melbourne, public gatherings will be limited to 25 people.

Two visitors will be allowed to visit a home per day, with dependents.

Community sport will be able to resume, and density limits in workplaces will increase to 50 per cent.

Masks will not be required outdoors, except where social distancing is not possible. Masks will still be required in all indoor settings, including on public transport and at workplaces.

Regional Victoria will have more restrictions eased, with 7000 people allowed at sporting events.

Victorians are encouraged to get tested if they experience any symptoms, however mild.
