A toddler has been struck and killed by a car in Altona this morning.
Police believe the 19-month-old boy was riding a scooter along the footpath in McAlpine Court when he was hit by a slow-moving vehicle pulling out of a driveway.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 9.15am.
The boy was rushed to hospital where he later died.
The driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old Altona man, stopped and assisted police at the scene.
Westgate Highway Patrol is investigating.
Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash-cam footage.
