Update: Ten of Victoria’s 71 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases reported today are connected to the Newport cluster.
COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar said the total number of cases linked to the outbreak is now 61.
Mr Weimar said that the Newport cluster remains a “continued concern”.
“I’m particularly appealing to… younger men in the Newport area, Newport and Altona North area,” he said.
“If you’re active in the community, if you’re in your 20s and your 30s, if you’re connected to the footy club, if you’re connected to the gyms… please come forward and get tested.
“We really are concerned about this ongoing emergence of cases in the Newport area.”
