Man dies following chainsaw incident

A gardener has died after losing control of a chainsaw while pruning tree branches at a Footscray property.

The incident occurred after 10am last Thursday and it is believed the 49-year-old was working on a ladder when he lost his grip on the chainsaw.

He sustained serious to his arm and upper body and died in hospital.

WorkSafe is investigating the incident.

This incident brings the number of workplace deaths in 2021 to 53.
