Laverton man charged following armed robbery in Hillside

A Laverton man has been arrested in relation to two alleged armed robberies on the weekend.

Police who are investigating the alleged armed robberies in both Hillside and Laverton, have arrested and charged the 24-year-old man with two counts of armed robbery, three counts of unlicensed driving and one count of theft.

Police have been told that two men allegedly entered a convenience store on Antionetta Way, Hillside about 4.30pm on Saturday, December 11.

One of the men allegedly produced a firearm before stealing cash and cigarettes.

The men fled in a blue Ford and no-one was injured.

Police said they believe the same two men were involved in an earlier armed robbery and a petrol drive-off in the Laverton area.

The second offender is yet to be identified.
