At age 106, Altona Meadows resident Mildred ‘Millie’ Andrew on Thursday was one of the oldest Victorians to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
The resident at Benetas St George’s aged care home unflinchingly received the jab and said she felt “none the different”.
Living at the home for more than 12 years, with her granddaughter streets away, Millie said she was pleased to receive the vaccine.
“I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for all of us,” she said.
“It’s been fully explained and you can ask questions to your doctor or GP if you have one.
“Sometimes I think, perhaps it won’t work. Then I think ‘no’, when I think of all the people who are having it and the impact it’s having.
“Also I have a good faith, you know – God will look after us.”
Millie was recognised on her 100th birthday, which falls on January 26, with a Medal of the Order of Australia for her service to children with disabilities.
