Two men will appear in court on Wednesday after police located explosives while executing a search warrant in Footscray on Monday.
Westgate Divisional Response Unit officers executed the warrant at a premise at Swaby Square in Footscray about 9am, where they allegedly located what’s believed to be a homemade pipe bomb, drugs and firearms.
Police said the Bomb Response Unit attended and shut down the device.
Two men, aged 33 and 39, were arrested.
The 39-year-old man has been charged with handling stolen goods, possessing Heroin, possessing an imitation firearm, possessing cartridge ammunition, possessing a firearm, prohibited person possessing a firearm, failure to provide assistance under warrant for data and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
The 33-year-old man was charged with theft, handling stolen goods, obtaining property by deception, possessing explosive substance, manufacturing an explosive substance (IED) and possessing cartridge ammunition.
