The Setting Sun Film Festival is calling for entries for its annual festival.

The festival will run from May 5-12 at the Sun Theatre in Yarraville and online, and it’s eight day program makes it one of the largest short film festivals in Melbourne.

Organisers are looking for short and feature length films that tell a captivating story and can entertain audiences.

With over $10,000 to give away in cash and prizes, filmmakers of all genres are encouraged to enter.

In addition to the short film program, the 2022 festival will also screen a youth program, a female filmmakers’ program, premier a Victorian made feature film, and present a selection of films from the Athens International Short Film Festival.

After hosting two online festivals due to COVID restrictions, festival director Anna Bourozikas said organisers are looking forward to seeing filmmakers again with this hybrid festival.

“We’ve missed seeing the filmmakers on Opening Night. We’re looking forward to seeing them again and being able to socialise and enjoy watching films together,” she said.

Entries close January 31.
