Altona and Williamstown Beach not safe for swimming

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has issued a warning against swimming in any beaches today.

Williamstown and Altona beach have both received ‘poor’ ratings, meaning they are not suitable to swim in.

The rating is due to recent and forecasted rain, with stormwater pollution likely present.

The EPA advises people should avoid swimming near stormwater or river outlets 24-48 hours after heavy rain.
