Footballers from all different types of backgrounds will come together for the Nations Footy Cup this month.
Nations Footy Cup (NFC) is an international competition based in Melbourne giving everyone the opportunity to come together and represent different countries around the world in AFL.
This year there will be 12 teams across the men’s and women’s competition.
Co-founder Beejay Johnson said they were excited about the event and the level of football that will be on show.
“This year we will have the men’s competition during the day and the women’s competition at night,” she said.
“We’ve got an extra bunch of teams and there’s a good calibre of coaches and players across the competition.”
The men’s competition will consist of nine teams. Among those involved is, Westmeadows coach Mo Kaakour who will coach Team Lebanon and Richmond AFL premiership player Noah Bolta will coach Team Croatia.
In the women’s, former AFLW assistant Shannon McFerran will coach Team World and Ron Sikora will be hoping to go back-to-back with Team Australia.
The competition, which is in its second year, has also secured three key sponsors, including Winsher Sports which is on a mission to provide top quality leather Australian rules footballs at a low and affordable price.
Teams will play for the Winsher Nations Footy Cup.
The event will be held on February 20 at La Trobe University in Bundoora.
