Firefighters rescue trapped cockatoo in Maidstone

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a call last night regarding a cockatoo trapped in a tree.

Just after 7:45pm on Monday evening, firefighters responded to the incident in Maidstone after receiving a triple zero call reporting a bird was caught with something around its leg approximately 30 meters up a tree.

Due to the height of the bird, one FRV crew were called to the scene to assist in freeing the animal.

Using a ladder platform, firefighters were able to reach and retrieve the bird, and freed its leg safely from where it was caught

The bird was transferred into the care of Wildlife Victoria specialists.
