Possum skin cloak making at Footscray Arts

Possum skin cloak making workshops are running at Footscray Arts.

The workshop,. which will run until March 5, aims to prioritise the sharing of culturally-significant knowledge and skills to young Aboriginal participants.

Participants will be able to contribute to the creation of a new communal ceremonial possum skin cloak to be held by the Footscray Community Arts’ Indigenous Advisory Group.

Young artists Aaron Clarke and Yaaran Bundle will lead the creative process and will be supported by Footscray Community Arts Elders in Residence Dr Narweet Carolyn Briggs AM and Uncle Larry Walsh, as well as senior possum skin cloak artists Maree Clarke and Vicki Couzens.
