Detectives impound car in Brooklyn

Detectives from Melton have impounded a car in Brooklyn on March 7, after it was detected travelling more than double the speed limit.

A 1999 Honda Civic was seen speeding on Hight Street in Melton West about 2.50am, which was believed to be travelling 136km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The Airwing assisted officers on the ground as the car reached what is believed to have been 180km/h as it passed through Rockbank and Ravenhall.

The 31-year-old Melton woman was intercepted by police on the Westgate Freeway near Grieve Parade, where she told officers she was running late for work.

The Melton woman is expected to be charged on summons with speed dangerous and exceeding the speed limit.
