Police are appealing for help identifying a man after an attempted armed robbery at a milk bar in Altona last month.
Police said an unknown man entered the Somers Parade business about 7.10pm on Saturday, February 26.
Investigators have been told the man armed himself with a hammer and threatened a staff member before making demands for cash.
He then fled on foot after being chased out by the staff member, Victoria Police said in a statement.
He was last seen running west on Somers Parade towards Curlew Avenue.
The staff member was not physically injured during the incident, according to police.
Investigators have released CCTV footage of a man who they believe can assist with their investigation.
He is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, about 180 centimetres tall with a medium build.
He was wearing a black Puma hoodie, black shorts, dark coloured Nike TN runners and concealed his face with sunglasses and a surgical mask.
Anyone who recognises the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or by submitting a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
