Police charged a man after an alleged kidnapping in West Footscray earlier this month.
The man was charged on Thursday, March 24 after police were called to an address on Sunshine Road following reports a woman was being held against her will on Friday, March 11.
A 23-year-old Elwood woman was freed and taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
With the assistance of the Special Operations Group, police arrested a 44-year-old West Footscray man outside the property.
He has been charged with false imprisonment, rape, assault with weapon, intentionally cause injury and possessing drug of dependence.
He was remanded to face Melbourne Magistrate Court on June 17.
