Werribee Giants’ Wesley de Jong, Newport Rams’ Leslie Anglin and Sunshine Eagles’ Andrea McKenner were among the award winners at Baseball Victoria’s summer league awards night.
Baseball Victoria announced the award winners for the recent season last Monday night, with an online awards ceremony.
The awards included the best and fairest winner for each division, coach of the year, volunteer of the year and statistical winners.
Anglin won the women’s division 2 best and first award on 16 votes, five clear of second. It was a massive season for Anglin who also polled well in the division 1 best and fairest. She finished in fourth spot behind winner Abbey Kelly, from Essendon.

de Jong won the Robert Hindson Medal for the best player in the division 2 men’s competition.
The pitcher claimed the medal on 23 votes, one ahead of Williamstown’s Dennis Neal.
The division 3 west women’s best and fairest was won by McKenner on 16 votes. Her daughter Makayla McKenner finished equal third on nine votes, with both being key players in the side’s run to the grand final in their first season back in the competition. Marc McKenner (husband-father) was co-coach of the side, while another daughter Lily McKenner was also part of the team.
In other awards, Newport’s Darryl George shared the home run award in division 2. North Western Titans’ Cameron Wilson won the division 3 home run award.
