The Environment Protection Authority [EPA] Victoria has called for anyone to come forward with any information on dumped industrial waste on a Williamstown roadside.

EPA investigators have obtained night time CCTV footage of Macaulay Street in Williamstown, which shows a man they believe may be able to identify the source of the dumped waste.

Abandoned on the corner of Fink Street and Albermarle Street in Williamstown in January, the waste contained broken industrial waste and asbestos sheeting.

EPA chief executive Lee Miezis said the video showed the man walking around what appears to be a white dual cab ute before driving off.

“We’re hoping someone watching the video will recognise the man who we think will be able to help us identify who dumped the cargo tray,” he said.

“Instead of disposing of waste appropriately and responsibly, dumpers leave the cost of disposal with the public.

“That cargo tray was removed from Fink Street by council contractors and EPA would like to find the person who left it there, and hand them the bill.”

Mr Miezis said anyone with any information concerning the dumped rubbish must provide that information to the EPA.

“Under the General Environmental Duties section of the Environment Protection Act 2017, everyone has a duty to try to prevent harm to the environment, so if you have information that can help us solve this case, please call on 1300 EPA VIC [1300 372 842], anonymously if preferred, or email to contact@epa.vic.gov.au,” he said.
