West Footscray’s Ted Logan has released his fourth book of poetry, which features a range of autobiographical works and a poem which hypothesises that Jesus Christ was not resurrected but was instead his twin.

A former mayor on the old Footscray council, he has since turned his hand at poetry and has released four collections since 2016.

Titled ‘Poetry Potpourri 4: A final variety of verse’, the latest collection features a poem called ‘The Empty Tomb’, which puts forward a theory that Jude, a twin of Jesus was ‘resurrected’ and named as Jesus.

The collection also includes a personal recount of the Manchester Blitz bombing event in Manchester in 1940, where the German Luftwaffe conducted a number of raids on the city of Manchester.

Mr Logan said he was born in Manchester in 1932 and was only seven or eight during the bombings.

“Back in those days, people didn’t have phones,” he said.

“It was a mighty explosive roar.

“We got on a double deck tram to take us to our aunt and uncle Minnie and Jack.”

Mr Logan became emotional recounting the damage he witnessed in Manchester.

“Chimney bricks had fallen and windows had blown out,” he said.

Mr Logan decided to become a poet after recovering from a subdural haematoma in 2011.

He has dedicated the collection to his late daughter Alison Maree Logan, who died at the age of six after being struck by a car in Morwell.

The collection also features a poem titled ‘The Last Days of Footscray’ concerning the impacts of the Local Government Reform Bill on the former Footscray council and a letter to British poet and playwright Carol Ann Duffy.
